Cause
Acute groin or adductor strain are very common in sports that involve sudden changes in direction, kicking or jumping. A person will generally describe a pull or strain on the inside of the upper leg. Depending on the grade of injury a graded approach to reloading the tissue and correction of any other compensatory movement should be address in a rehab plan.
Chronic groin pain can sometimes be driven by over activation of the adductors muscles. This can be in part due to other muscles being under active. Instead of loading already over loaded muscles a rehab plan should address surrounding muscles and control of the pelvis.
Other longstanding groin pain may not be related to a strain or overload of the adductors. Tissues such as Iliopsaos, abdominal wall and pubic bone overload can lead to long term groin pain.
